Pheu Thai’s Watana gets NCPO summons again over FB remark

PHEU THAI Party politician Watana Muangsuk has again been summoned by the junta for “attitude adjustment” after posting a comment against the draft constitution.

Watana, a former commerce minister and key Pheu Thai figure, said yesterday that he had been contacted by military officers to detain him in the evening. But he was spending the Songkran holiday with his family and therefore he told the military officers to come again on Monday.
The politician said that he requested the military officers to detain him at his home in Bangkok’s Prawet district around 11 am next Monday.
“I want to spend the holiday with my family,” Watana said, adding that he was waiting for a reply from the authorities involved.
Yesterday, Watana posted a new Facebook message entitled “I also do not accept the draft constitution.”
Meanwhile, National Council for Peace and Order spokesman Colonel Winthai Suvari said yesterday that Watana had made his standpoint against the draft constitution since the time it was being written.
“People are well aware that Watana has often disagreed with the NCPO due to his personal attitude towards the NCPO,” Winthai said.
The spokesman also urged public members to carefully consider viewpoints expressed on the matter, adding that many people who made such comments had a hidden agenda.
