Activist arrested for lese majeste

A man from the Resistant Citizen activist group has been held for allegedly violating the lese majeste law and the Computer Crime Act.

Burin Intin was arrested by police from the Technology Crime Suppression Division after he was accused of insulting the monarchy on the Internet. He was also charged with violating Article 112 of the Penal Code.
The military court yesterday granted a police request for Burin to be detained for 12 days pending completion of investigation into his case. He was brought to the Bangkok Remand Prison for detention. His lawyer Anon Nampa said yesterday that he would this week request the military court for temporary release of his client.
