Armoured money truck heist suspects arrested

Armoured money truck heist suspects arrested

FOUR suspects allegedly involved in the Bt5.3-million armoured money truck heist in front of a Lotus Express store at Chon Buri’s Muang district were arrested on Friday.

Pol Lt-General Panya Mamen told a press conference yesterday that Omsin Sakritan, 44, his girlfriend Kornwipa Samreungjit, 31, her younger brother Yothin Samreungjit and the accused getaway van driver Yutthana Kittiyuthanawin, 42, allegedly robbed the Siam Administrative Management-owned truck when it was about to refill an ATM.
Yutthana allegedly admitted to do the crime but the other suspects maintained their innocence.
Panya said there was solid evidence against the suspects.
Yutthana allegedly told police that he and Omsin scouted the area while planning the heist over two weeks before successfully executing it on March 27.
He allegedly claimed that Omsin rode a motorcycle to rob the truck and met him at a nearby mango forest to load the motorcycle into the van and flee. He allegedly claimed Omsin had burned the moneybag in a wooded area next to a Chinese cemetery at Wat Sanipak in Muang, Chon Buri.
Yutthana allegedly got Bt130,000 for his part in the robbery.
Kornwipa is accused of renting the van while Yothin is accused of paying the money for renting the van .
Police presented as evidence the van used in the heist, Bt50,000 seized from Yutthana and burnt moneybag pieces that were discovered.
