Parents of ‘threat’ girl contacted by police

Parents of ‘threat’ girl contacted by police

Police have contacted the parents of the teenage girlfriend of one of the six young men who allegedly killed a disabled bread-delivery man in Bangkok on Labour Day, as they try to have her provide testimony regarding threats she allegedly made.

The girl was accused of threatening the deceased man’s relatives and posting on her Facebook page a threatening message against witness and lawyer Anantachai Chaidech.
Pol Colonel Chairob Junnawat, Superintendent of Chokchai Police Station in Bangkok, yesterday said police had not yet been able to reach the girl and so had contacted her parents, as acting Metropolitan Police Bureau chief Pol Lt-General Sanit Mahathaworn wants her brought in for questioning.
Chairob said police had also asked the Information and Communications Technology Ministry to check whether the Facebook page in question actually belonged to the girl.
Chairob said police had interviewed 15 witnesses in the murder case and their testimonies were consistent, but police could not reveal the details for fear of affecting the investigation. He said police would ensure justice for all and urged social-media users to understand the need to gather evidence thoroughly and proceed according to evidence and law.
