King treated for excess fluid in spine, on brain

HIS Majesty the King has received treatment for excess fluid in his spinal cord and on the brain at Siriraj Hospital, the Royal Household Bureau announced

Doctors adjusted a tube used to drain excess fluid after they noticed facial twitching, the bureau said in a statement issued late on Friday night.
“It was detected that His Majesty’s facial muscles had irregular movements. Doctors conducting a computer X-ray found there was an irregular surplus of fluid in the backbone and brain,” the statement said.
“The team of royal physicians corrected this by adjusting the tube in his abdomen between 6.30pm and 7.45pm [on Friday] and the result was satisfactory.”
It is the second health update issued by the palace in under a week. Last Saturday the palace said the King had been treated with antibiotics for a lung infection and knee inflammation.
Previous health updates also mentioned a build-up of fluid in his spine or brain.
The world’s longest-reigning monarch has been treated for a number of ailments during a long stay at Siriraj Hospital. He was last seen in public on January 11, when he spent a few hours visiting Chitralada Palace.
