Prayut urges Asean to join force against security challenges

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha Friday night urged Asean nations to join hands to tackle regional security challenges.

Prayut made the call as part of his a keynote address during an opening ceremony of the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) Shangri-La Dialogue 15th Asia Security Summit in Singapore.
He urged Asean to adhere to strategic new equilibrium and addressed regional security challenges such as terrorism and extremism, cyber security, irregular migration, climate change, South China Sea dispute and tension in Korean peninsula.
Prayut also reiterated a reason the junta needed to perform the 2014 coup as a necessary step in transition toward sustainable democracy.
