28 injured in speedboat collision

A total of 28 revellers were injured, one in critical condition, after a speedboat shortly left a pier from Samed Island slammed into a tugboat anchored off the coast of Rayong on Saturday night, police said Sunday.

Twenty three people were taken to Rayong Hospital, three to BangkokRayong Hospital, and two to Sri Rayong Hospital.
The speed boat carrying 35 people, 19 men and 16 women did not capsize after the accident. Most people were injured from the impact of the crash. Three needed to have brain operation, one person was in serious condition with cerebral hemorrhage. Some sustained injuries on their head and faces, broken ribes and broken shoulder bones.
The speed boat was taking the revelers back to the Rayong coast after seeing the 7th Samed In Love concert at Samed Island. The boat hit a tugboat after it left the pier only five minutes.
