Education minister orders check into claims of flawed questions in O-Net

EDUCATION Minister Dapong Ratanasuwan has instructed the National Institute of Educational Testing Service to check the O-NET (Ordinary National Educational Test) English-language paper after a claim it contains flawed questions.

The move came after well-known tutor Andrew Biggs said the 50-question paper had four flawed questions.
As for the O-NET social studies test paper for Mathayom 6, which was said earlier this week to contain arguably correct answers to some questions, Dapong said he would have officials inspect the paper before determining if the admission’s system had been affected.
The NIETS said there was only problematic question and scores had been adjusted accordingly.
Dapong has instructed NIETS chief Sampan Panpruk Sampan to check all Mathayom 3 papers so as to boost society’s confidence in the NIETS system. “If there were mistakes, the agency has to own them and make corrections,” he said.
