A Bad Day for Bangkok Commuters

A Bad Day for Bangkok Commuters

Bangkok commuters woke up to flooded roads and traffic nightmare Tuesday morning.

Floodwater covered the traffic surface of many key roads in the capital, which has long been notorious for traffic jam. So when Bangkok was swamped, traffic almost came to a standstill.

Flood waters outside and inside the Land Transport Department on Phaholyothin Road in Bangkok's Chatuchak district during yesterday’s morning rush hour posed difficulties for pedestrians and motorists and caused severe traffic jams. The level of the water in Phaholyothin fell at a slower rate than in other flooded areas of Bangkok due to the previous night’s heavy rains that left the drains unable to cope.
