Prayut dispatches officials to UN quarters
Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha has assigned officers to visit the United Nations Headquarters in New York City to provide an explanation on Thai political situations.
The visit followed Prayut’s phone conversation with the UN secretary-general Ban Ki-Moon last Monday, when Prayut dialed to explain reasons behind the government’s measures toward, and against, political movements with emphasis to August’s referendum on the charter draft.
The visiting officer are from the Foreign Ministry, the National Council for Peace and Order and governmental legal agencies, who are to explain current law enforcement situations by facts and to answer any queries, Prayut said after the Cabinet meeting Tuesday.
The delegation met with the UN deputy secretary-general Jan Eliasson, Prayut added, as Ban is occupied with oversea business.
