Arrest warrant issued for ‘Kamnan Sia’s’ wife after court no-show

An arrest warrant has been issued for Khemporn Tangjaiyen, wife of former Kanchanaburi Democrat MP Pracha “Kamnan Sia” Pothipipit, after she failed to appear at the reading of an Appeals Court verdict yesterday over the couple’s alleged encroachment on st

The court rescheduled the verdict reading for 9.30am on August 8.
Previously, the court had issued an arrest warrant for Pracha after he failed to appear at the scheduled Appeals Court verdict reading on May 24 – which was postponed to yesterday.
The primary court last March sentenced Pracha and Khemporn to jail terms of 11 years and four months each for encroaching on more than 50 rai (7 hectares) of state-owned land in 2001 and 2002.
Pracha and his wife have also been handed jail terms over a 1999-2001 bidding-collusion case regarding a construction project. In that case, the Supreme Court sentenced Pracha to five years in jail while Khemporn and her close aide Wanna Lorpaiboon were each given four years.
Pracha was also prosecuted for encroaching on another plot of state land, with the Appeals Court jailing him for three years in January.
