No power disruption, Egat assures
The Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand assured business and individual power users in the South that supply would not be disrupted despite the annual maintenance of the Malaysian-Thai Joint Development Area.
In a statement, the state agency said that while the gas field is under maintenance during August 20-31, the Chana power plant would switch to diesel. Malaysia also stands ready to transmit power to Thailand's southern part, in case of emergency.
Egat noted that it would be helpful if all users in the South cut down their consumption during 6-9.30pm.
The JDA supplies Thailand with 421 million cubic feet per day of natural gas for electricity generating.
