Police search five firms suspected of running illegal tour business

Armed with search warrants, a team of 50 police officers raided five companies in Bangkok’s Lat Krabang area on the suspicion that the firms are providing illegal Chinese tour guide services or could be linked to foreign nominees running tour businesses.

The operation was led by Tourism Police Division chief Pol Maj-General Surachet Hakpan, his deputy Pol Colonel Achayon Kraithong and Tourism Department deputy chief Sutham Dechdi.
The businesses Royal Gems International Co Ltd, Bangkok Handicraft Centre Co Ltd, OA Transport Co Ltd, Royal Thai Herb Co Ltd and Royal Paradise Co Ltd, all located on Luang Phaeng Road in Bangkok’s Khum Thong sub-district, are believed to be part of a single network.
While the initial search did not discover illegal operations, officers seized documents for further investigation.
Royal Gems executive Chatchai Rojrungrangsi, who cooperated with the officers, said his company’s business was legal and recognised internationally.
