Premsak suspended from duty as Ban Phai mayor
Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha Thursday invoked Article 44 of the interim constitution to suspend Premsak Piayura as the mayor of Ban Phai Municipality in Khon Kaen’s Ban Phai district.
Prayut invoked the article in his capacity as the chief of the National Council for Peace and Order.
The order, which was published in the Royal Gazette Thursday, stated that Premsak was suspended from his duty but he has not yet been removed his post until further notice. During the suspension, he will not receive any pay.
Prayut ordered government agencies concerned to conduct a probe against Premsak who has been accused of having misconduct by marrying a schoolgirl and allegedly partially undressing a male reporter to embarrass him.
