Officials’ benefits “unaffected” by tambon organisation merger

The merger of small tambon administrative organisations would not affect the benefits of current officials, a member of National Reform Steering Assembly (NRSA) said yesterday.

Wanlop Pringpong, deputy chair of the NRSA committee on local administrative body reform, said the merger would improve the delivery of services to people without hurting the welfare of officials.
“Our draft laws have already provided guarantees that officials’ benefits, welfare and pay will not be affected,” he said.
The NRSA recently approved two draft laws to reform local administrative bodies across the country. One consequence of the laws is that some small tambon administrative organisations will be merged.
The draft laws still have to go through the legislative process. “They can still be adjusted. People can voice their opinions,” Wanlop said.
