PM urges Thais to wear traditional costumes

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha on Tuesday encouraged Thais to wear traditional costumes, adding "it does not need to be very expensive".

Prayut also jokingly said that those who didn't have money to buy the costumes  could seek his  help, to cheers from the crowd.

The prime minister warned that if people only dressed in "modern" style, traditional costumes would eventually disappear.
Prior to the weekly Cabinet meeting, the PM greeted government servants along with the two child stars, Jirada and Jakkarin Moran, who waited to welcome him in front of Thai Ku Fah Building at Government House.
The premier complimented the famous brother and sister duo for wearing traditional costumes. He said students wearing traditional attire were "cute", referring to Isaan students who had welcomed him when he visited Roi Et province last week to follow up on the progress of the government's policies.
