Two arrested for murder

PROBATION Department director-general Narat Sawetnant yesterday praised Nakhon Si Thammarat police for finding the body of murdered Phang Nga probation office director Chawee Intara and arresting two suspects.

Nakhon Si Thammarat Provincial Court had issued arrest warrants for five male suspects in this case, with Jeeradech Paedam, 23, and Suitthipong Buppakorn, 22, detained on Tuesday.
Their testimonies led police to retrieve the victim’s body from a canal in Tambon Klong Noi in Nakhon Si Thammarat’s Pak Phanang district on Wednesday.
The body of 57-year-old Chawee was found stuffed in a 200-litre plastic barrel half-filled with cement and dumped in Khlong Bang Chak.
Following Chawee’s disappearance on August 20, police discovered Chawee had a months-long Facebook relationship with Natthanan Indam, 25, in Nakhon Si Thammarat’s Chian Yai district.
Natthanan’s boyfriend, Adisak Thongsomja, 30, allegedly found out about the relationship and told Natthanan to have Chawee meet her at a house in Chian Yai. When Chawee arrived at the house, Adisak and four friends allegedly beat him to death before disposing of his body in the canal.
Police were still searching for Adisak and the other two suspects, Chaichana Kerdmusik and Suwat Malawat, yesterday.
Police are gathering evidence in a bid to secure an arrest warrant for Natthanan.
Chawee’s body was sent to the Surat Thani Forensic Centre for an autopsy.
The arrested suspects allegedly told police he died from being beaten for hours and then hit with a blunt object.
After the autopsy, his body will be sent to his hometown in Tambon Tha Sak in Nakhon Si Thammarat’s Muang district for the religious rite ceremony.
