Prayut to attend G77 meeting in New York

Prime Minister Prayut Chanocha would attended the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York late September focusing on the conclusion of Thai chairmanship of the Group of 77.

The Cabinet yesterday also approved Thailand’s position paper to be presented during the 71th UN General Assembly at the Headquarter starting next Tuesday.
Thailand would emphasize its roles to push for benefits of developing countries, in a capacity of leader of the Group of 77, which the country holds New York chapter this year. It would also highlight principles of sufficiency economy as mechanism to achieve the UN’s goals on sustainable developments.
This would also be in response to the UNGA’s theme of “The Sustainable Development Goals: a universal push to transform our world”.
The paper focused on nine principles, namely supports to sustainable economic development, international security and peacekeeping, development in Africa, supports to human rights, efficient coordination on humanitarian aid, supports to international jurisdiction, weapon deduction, combats against transnational terrorism, crimes, and drugs, and organizational development.
