Bangkokians satisfied with life, as one-third of residents tell survey they wouldn’t change a thing

Almost a third of Bangkok residents (29 per cent) are so satisfied with their life that they don’t want to change anything at all, a survey by the Nation University’s Research Institute has revealed.

However, in the survey of 1,000 people, the institute found that 71 per cent yearned for a change in their job, car, house or their spouse.
Asked which change will make them happier this year, 29 per cent of respondents said a change in their job, 22 per cent wanted a different house, and 18 per cent would be satisfied with a new car. About 14 per cent wanted to change their spouse and about nine per cent wanted to change their attitude.
The institute’s director Thankawin Ratthawatankul said yesterday that the findings reflected gross national happiness to an extent. “It is possible that many people want the change to get an even better life,” he said.
According to the United Nations’ World of Happiness 2016 Report, Thailand is ranked in 33rd position. In Southeast Asia, it lags just behind Singapore.
