Warrant out for 7th suspect in Mother’s Day attacks

Surat Thani’s military court yesterday issued an arrest warrant for Phang-Nga firebomb suspect Sukiman Kubaru.

Sukiman is the seventh man wanted in relation to the spate of bomb and arson attacks on August 11 and 12 in seven provinces popular with tourists. The attacks killed four people and injured more than 30 others.
Earlier yesterday, deputy police chief Pol General Srivara Rangsipramanakul took a flight to Surat Thani to apply for an arrest warrant for the 34-year-old Narathiwat native. Sukiman is accused of conspiring with others to plant a firebomb to set alight a clothing shop in Bang Niang Market in Phang-Nga’s Takua Pa district.
The court issued a warrant for Sukiman over charges of conspiring with others and having explosives in possession without permission, conspiring to set another person’s property on fire and racketeering.
Srivara’s team also travelled by helicopter to Nakhon Si Thammarat yesterday to interrogate Trang arson suspect Abdul-Kadae Salae at Thung Song Prison. Abdul-Kadae is the first and only suspect in detention over the August 11-12 attacks.
The questioning of Abdul-Kadae reportedly focused on the suspect’s alleged bombing network and means of communication. He was also questioned about his alleged links to Runda Kumpulan Kecil (RKK) militant suspect Lahri Salae, who was arrested over a separate case in Yala province, which led to the seizure of five guns.
The other five wanted men are Phuket bombing suspect Ahama Lengha, Nakhon Si Thammarat bombing suspect Hakeem Doloh and Hua Hin bombing suspects Russaran Baima, Asmin Katemmadee and Seri Waemamu.
