PM unveils Phuket airport's new terminal

The Phuket International Airport inaugurated its new international terminal today, aiming to become a gateway to the Andaman coast.

This morning's opening ceremony was presided over by Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha along with high-ranking officials.
The new four-storey, 73,104 sqm terminal will expand the airport's capacity from 6.5 million passengers per year to 12.5 million.
It features 15 immigration points, eight customs counters, five baggage carousels, a 300 metre arrival curb and 285 metre departure curb.
According to Airports of Thailand, the airport operator, from October 2015 through August 2016,  the airport accommodated 13.66 million passengers, an increase by 17.01 per cent from the same period last year. It also served 87,409 flights, up by 15.99 per cent. 
The airport is now servicing 46 airlines which connects Phuket with more than 37 destinations.
