Lost, the lonely dog, crushed to death

The force of social networkers has failed to save Lost, the lonely dog, that was spotted sitting in the middle of a highway waiting for its boss - it has been crushed to death.

The female brown dog, which was called by Facebook users as “Long” in Thai or Lost, was spotted sitting on the shallow ditch in the middle of the Chanthaburi-Trat highway in Chan Thaburi’s Mueang district over a month ago.
The dog just sat beside a kilometer sign, looking at vehicles that sped past as if it were waiting for its boss to pick it up.

Its pictures and story has been widely shared by Facebook users, hoping that its owner who learn about its plight and return to the spot to take it home.
Several animal lovers have visited the spot and offered to take the dog to their house but Long would not allow anyone to grab it.
On September 13, Channel 7 reported that Chanthaburi livestock office planned to capture the dog and quarantine it until it owner came to take it home for fear that it would be hit and kill by any speeding vehicle. Channel 7 also reported that a possible owner from Angthong called the station that he would go to the spot to check whether Long was his dog that he accidentally dropped from his pickup six months ago.
But all actions were too late. Khao Sod reported Sunday that Long was crushed to death on Saturday. A group of dog lovers retrieved its body to its last resting place in Chanthaburi’s Thamai district on Sunday.
