Korat to host mass singing of anthem on Thursday

NAKHON Ratchasima will be the next venue for a mass singing of the Royal Anthem in honour of HM King Bhumibol Adulyadej, according to the man who conducted the first event at Bangkok’s Sanam Luang on Saturday.

Musical composer and conductor Somtow Sucharitkul announced on his Facebook page that a second mass singing of the Royal Anthem would be held in the northeastern province.
“You first heard it here: the mass singing of the Royal Anthem is going to be a movement.
“On Thursday we will be taking our ensemble to Korat at the request of the city, where we will lead another Royal Anthem massed performance in honour of the late, great King Rama IX,” Somtow said.
On Saturday, Somtow conducted the Siam Philharmonic Orchestra, featuring over 100 instruments plus 100 chorus singers during the mass singing in Bangkok.
An estimated 177,000 people gathered at Sanam Luang and around the Grand Palace to sing the Royal Anthem in honour of the late King.
“As others request it, we will go on to other cities and towns,” Somtow said in his Facebook message. But he did not identify other provinces.
