Samsung Pay launches preliminary service here

SAMSUNG announced the preliminary launch of Samsung Pay in Thailand will go live from today at three major Thai Credit Card issuers and full service will begin on November 16.

Of the first 3,000 participating users, those with the highest frequency of Samsung Pay transactions between October 27 and November 23 will receive a complimentary 5100 mAh fast charge battery pack1, which retails for Bt1,590.
Samsung Pay’s expansion to Thailand will bring the service to 10 countries by the end of this year, following recent launches in Malaysia and Russia.
During the preliminary launch, consumers will be able to use Samsung Pay at three major Thai Credit Card issuers including KTC Credit Card, Citibank and Siam Commercial Bank with payments processed through Visa and MasterCard.
When Samsung Pay goes full service, customers will also be able to use Samsung Pay at a further three banks including Kasikornbank, Bank of Ayudhya, and Bangkok Bank with payments processed through Visa and MasterCard.
To use Samsung Pay, customers simply need to open the Samsung Pay app and tap their compatible Samsung smartphone against the NFC or MST reader to make a payment.
Wichai Pornpratang, corporate vice president of IT and Mobile Communications at Thai Samsung Electronics, said that bringing Samsung Pay to Thailand would enhance the mobile payments experience. The platform has garnered strong consumer interest and adoption across markets in Asia.
Samsung has a network of partners in Thailand to ensure users can take advantage of mobile payments with a growing number of retailers.
Samsung Pay users can use their compatible devices – including the Galaxy S7, S7 edge, S6 edge+, Note5, A7(2016) and A5(2016) – to make payments at malls belonging to The Mall Group and Siam Piwat, such as Siam Paragon, The EmQuartier, The Emporium, Siam Center, Siam Discovery and The Mall. The service can also be used at a large number of stores and restaurants, such as Zara, Krispy Kreme and more.
