Justice Ministry: It's legal for farmers to sell rice directly to end-consumers
Justice Ministry’s deputy permanent secretary Tawatchai Thaikyo Sunday assured farmers that such sales did not violate any laws. He firmly dismissed a comment by a lawyer who claimed farmers could be liable to legal punishment under the Direct Selling and Direct Marketing Selling Act.
“That act is used to regulate the direct sellers with a network of independent distributors to reach out to consumers,” Tawatchai said, “This law is not related to farmers’ efforts to sell their rice to end-consumers at all”.
