Records to be kept on events in tribute to King

THE GOVERNMENT is compiling information on activities held in remembrance of much-revered HM King Bhumibol Adulyadej, not just in Thailand but also those held overseas.

“The National Archive of Thailand will keep records [on these events],” PM’s Office Minister Suwaphan Tanyuvardhana said yesterday in his capacity as secretary of the command centre established following the King’s death on October 13.
At the time of his passing, His Majesty was the world’s longest-reigning monarch and commanded much respect across the globe. Last Friday, the United Nations convened a rare special session to honour the monarch.
According to Suwaphan, Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha has instructed the command centre to compile information on activities in Thailand and beyond.
“The Interior Ministry will be in charge of gathering information on activities in Bangkok and other provinces. The Foreign Affairs Ministry will provide information on overseas activities for us,” Suwaphan said.
Many historic events have taken place, as Thais and the world have paid tribute to the late King.
In Thailand, hundreds of thousand people gathered at Sanam Luang on October 22 to sing the Royal Anthem in his honour.
