NLA speeds work on organic law to meet 60-day deadline

NLA speeds work on organic law to meet 60-day deadline

The National Legislative Assembly (NLA) is speeding up its work on the four organic laws over concerns it may not finish its work in 60 days, as framed by the 2014 interim charter, said its whip spokesman Jate Siratharanon.

He said related bodies under the NLA were looking into the organic laws although they had not been officially received the current versions from the Constitution Drafting Commission (CDC). If the NLA did not expedite its work, it may not be able to complete the deliberation in time, thus affecting the promulgation, Jate added.

On November 16, the NLA plans to hold a seminar to gather public opinions regarding the laws. He added that the NLA would like to see the complete laws by the CDC as soon as possible.

In a related issue, the NLA intends to vote this Friday on whether to impeach Pheu Thai Party politicians Narisorn Thongthirat and Udomdej Rattanasatien who are accused of voting illegally on behalf of absent colleagues and illegally making changes to the constitutional amendment.
