Residents urged to make merit by cutting power usage

Chanthaburi residents are being asked to join a project dubbed “Chanthaburi Residents United to Reduce Power Use for Dad” to make merit for the late His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, Chanthaburi Governor Witurat Srinam said yesterday.

Participants should turn off lights and unnecessary appliances for 19 minutes from 7pm onwards from November 7 to December 7.
The governor, who is leading officials to boost participation in the project at malls around Muang district, said the project was a chance for residents to do a good deed in memory of His Majesty’s great merits and excellence in energy saving and effective use of technologies.
He said the project aimed to convince at least 80 per cent of Chanthaburi households to take part, with the provincial energy office assessing power usage. It was estimated the province’s power usage would drop the equivalent of Bt292,500 per month.
