Two former Pheu Thai MPs impeached, banned five years
The National Legislative Assembly Friday voted overwhelmingly to impeach two former Pheu Thai Party MPs for illegally voting on behalf of absent colleagues and illegally making changes to a constitutional amendment.
The impeachment prompted Former Pheu Thai MPs Narisorn Thongthiraj and Udomdej Rattanasatien to be banned from holding political office for five years.
Narisorn was impeached with 221 to 1 votes. Two NLA members abstained.
Udomdej was voted against by 206 NLA members while 15 others voted in favour of him.
It required at least 150 of the 250 legislators to vote against them.
