US-Thai alliance to continue under next president, ambassador says
US Ambassador Glyn Davies said on Wednesday that his country and Thailand would remain allies regardless of the US presidential election result.
Speaking at the Ambassador’s Residence, where more than 160 university students were invited to monitor the election as it unfolded, Davies said bilateral relations, including on economic and foreign affairs, had long been smoothed through diplomatic mechanisms, and this would continue under the next president.
Davies did not elaborate on possible policy changes, saying his service for the US administration barred him from voicing exact anticipations on the incoming presidency.
