Vocational students swear off brawls out of respect for HM

The pledge was made at by almost a million students at 914 vocational schools nationwide.
At a ceremony at the Pathumthani Technical College yesterday, where some 4,000 students were present, Education Minister General Dapong Ratanasuwan said the pledge would help reduce the problem of brawls among vocational students.
Student brawls have posed a common problem in recent decades and has sometimes resulted in death.
“Vocational students are powerful and energetic. They should use their power to build good things for the country as they are the main driving force for its stability, prosperity and sustainability,” Dapong said, adding that the students should be honest, sincere and united.
“In order to be a good worker, whether we are at a big company or a small one, we have to define our purpose and benefits before setting appropriate procedures. Then we should strictly and consistently follow these procedures until we succeed,” Dapong said referring to His Majesty’s guidance. He also called on the students to follow the late King’s path to do good deeds for the society and the country.
The beloved monarch passed away at the age of 89 on October 13.
Suthep Chitayawong, secretary-general for the Vocational Education Commission, said the students now provided voluntary service to the public such as repairing electrical appliances, dyeing clothes into black and providing free meals.
