Former minister Likhit Thiravekhin dies at age of 75

Likhit Thiravekhin, a former deputy interior minister and Thai Rak Thai MP, has died of cancer. He was 75 years old.

His relatives said Likhit died at the Phra Mongkut Klao Hospital at 11:30 pm Sunday. He has been admitted to the hospital late last month.
Likhit was a respected political scientists of Thammasat University and used to be a vice rector of the university before he enter politics.
He became deputy interior minister when Gen Chavalit Yongchaiyudh became the prime minister in 1997. He used to lead the Palang Pandin Thai Party in 2006 and 2007 and was elected as a Thai Rak Thai party-list MP twice.
