DSI ‘unsure’ it can nab Dhammachayo despite raid warrant

OFFICERS tasked with raiding Dhammakaya Temple on Tuesday remain unsure whether they would be able to arrest fugitive monk Phra Dhammachayo.

The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) yesterday disclosed it had already secured a warrant from the court and would search the temple premises by next week. Dhammakaya Temple’s former abbot Phra Dhammachayo is wanted on charges of money laundering and receiving stolen property.

A DSI source said the agency would ask the National Office of Buddhism and the Pathum Thani Provincial Monk Dean to accompany its officers during the raid so that they could urge the temple’s followers not to obstruct the officers from performing their duties.
