Colombian pair among five suspects arrested for drug

Police have arrested five suspected drug traffickers, including two Colombian nationals, in two separate cases involving more than 800,000 “yaba”, or methamphetamine, pills and almost five kilograms of cocaine, together worth more than Bt200 million.

The Royal Thai Police’s Narcotics Suppression Bureau and Customs Department officials attended a press conference at the bureau’s headquarters Monday to announce the arrests.
Three people were arrested last Thursday in the first case involving 857,400 pills. The suspects were identified as Adul Pakaisrisakul, Somchai Boya, both residents of Chiang Rai, and Narumol Pumiwat, from Ayutthaya.
Adul and Somchai were caught at a shopping mall in Pathum Thani’s Rangsit area in possession of 140,000 yaba pills while allegedly delivering the drugs to police in a sting operation.
Questioning of the suspects led police to a house in Ayutthaya’s Bang Pa-in district, where 717,400 more pills were found. Somchai’s girlfriend Narumol was arrested inside the house during the police raid.
