Bob/skeleton 2017 worlds moved to Germany from Russia

Berchtesgaden, Germany - The German venue of Koenigssee has been awarded the bobsleigh and skeleton world championships in February 2017, taking over from Sochi which was stripped of the event in connection with doping allegations against Russia.

The ruling body IBSF said Monday that Koenigs see will host the championships a fifth time between February 13 and 26.
The IBSF last week stripped Russia's Sochi of the worlds in the wake of a second report by World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) independent investigator Richard McLaren on doping practices in the country.
Several athletes had threatened to boycott an event in Sochi, and the IBSF said it wanted "a competition that focuses on sport rather than accusations and discussions - whether justified or not" and that "the current climate would make it nearly impossible to appreciate the efforts" of Russian organisers.
