Police detained nine for alleged cyber-attacks : Prawit
At least nine suspects have been detained for alleged involvement in the latest hacking of government and security agencies websites, Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Prawit Wongsuwan said Monday.
“More people would be arrested. We assure that we will not allow them [to attack government’s websites],” he said.
Police also seized devices and tools the group allegedly used to do cyber-attacks, he claimed.
Meanwhile a source from police said they also seized a number of guns and bullets from the group.
The crackdown is expected to lead to the round-up of about 100 people believed responsible for the attacks after changes to the new Computer Crime Bill were approved by the National Legislative Assembly on December 16, authorities said earlier.
Prawit said police was going to have a press conference on the detaining today.
