Only govt agencies to be given permit to grow hemp in 1st phase
Only government agencies can seek a permit to grow, sell and possess hemp – now a type of narcotics – during the first phase of the initiative to legalise hemp plantations.
Individuals or private entities have to wait and see, as authorities try to determine whether the legalisation delivers intended benefits and successfully prevents adverse impacts.
“After the ministerial regulation legalising hemp growing appears in the Royal Gazette, permits will be granted only to government agencies during the first three years,” Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB) secretary general Sirinya Sittichai said Thursday.
