Kamnan blames top cop in ‘love triangle’ killing

A RATCHABURI-based kamnan has strongly implicated the former Ban Pong district police chief as the alleged mastermind behind the abduction and murder of a “tomboy” singer.

Bangkok police chief Lt-General Sanit Mahathavorn said yesterday that Sanong Somsith, 54, the kamnan of Ban Pong’s Tambon Lat Bua Khao, implicated Pol Colonel Amnuay Pongsawat, 58, the superintendent of Ban Pong Police Station, in the killing of Supaksorn Polthaisong, 28.
Supaksorn, considered a “handsome” female singer at a bar, was abducted and killed last month. Her body was buried at a resort in Kanchanaburi.
Sanong was arrested on Saturday. Yesterday, Sanit and a team of police took Sanong to Amnuay’s office on the third floor of Ban Pong Police Station to re-enact how he was allegedly paid a second sum of Bt60,000.
Sanong was also taken to a coffee shop where he allegedly took the last sum of Bt100,000 from Amnuay and then to a restaurant, where he was paid the initial sum of Bt40,000. In total, he was allegedly paid Bt200,000.
Sanit said Sanong admitted that he had acted as a middleman to recruit a team to abduct Supaksorn. So far, five suspects have been arrested, while two military officers from a Kanchanaburi base and a civilian were still on the run.
Sanit said the three might be hiding along the Thai-Myanmar border in Kanchanaburi.
