Traffic chaos at Ratchayothin Intersection
The first day of change of traffic pattern at the notorious Ratchayothin Intersection created a chaos Tuesday morning that also resulted in gridlock on several adjacent roads, traffic radio station Jor Sor 100 reported.
The traffic flow at the intersection was changed to be a circle flow requiring all vehicles to make a circle from the left side instead of going straight. The change was implemented following the start of constructions of an elevated railway and an underground pass at the same time. Traffic police plan to implement the circle-pattern of traffic flow for four months.
Jor Sor 100 said confusion led to the chaos since in the morning at the intersection and accumulated vehicles caused gridlock on several roads, including Phaholyothin, Ratchadapisek, Lardprao and Vibhavadi Rangsit.
A lot of buss passengers were seen getting out and walking instead of waiting helplessly, the radio station reported.
