DSI officials, troops seize Bt400m assets of alleged loan shark gang leader
Department of Special Investigation (DSI) has joined force with the 4th Infantry Regiment to launch an operation to search 10 locations in Uthai Thani province on Monday.
The officials and troops seized assets 102 plots of property worth Bt400 million from a major loan shark gang allegedly led by Wichai Panngam.
The impounded lands and buildings covered a total of 700 rais located in Muang and Nong Kha Yang districts.
The operation was as according to the government's policy for the Justice Ministry to crackdown on influential figures and reduce social inequity.
Wichai's alleged loan shark gang reportedly has a revolving fund of Bt4 billion, a network of 2,000 moneylenders and 86 franchise branches lending money to some 170,000 borrowers.
