Road-rage shooter to apply for protection programme

Road-rage shooter to apply for protection programme

Justice Ministry’s deputy permanent secretary Pol Colonel Dusadee Arayawuth said Thursday that an engineer who allegedly shot dead a student in a road rage in Chon Buri will seek protection from the authorities.

Dusadee said Suthep Poshsomboon and his wife would meet the deputy secretary general Friday afternoon to seek legal advice and apply for a witness protection programme because the family had allegedly been threatened.
Justice Ministry permanent secretary Chanchao Chaiyanukij said the ministry had a “justice clinic” where representatives of the Lawyers’ Council of Thailand provided legal advice to the public.
He said officials would first consider people’s status in the case, as witnesses, damaged persons or suspects, and then consider if witness protection should be granted.
