Yingluck’s Bt100 m civil case against Prayut postponed

Yingluck’s Bt100 m civil case against Prayut postponed

The Civil Court has postponed hearing witnesses in a case filed by ex-prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra against Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and six other government officials seeking Bt100 million in damages.

Yingluck’s lawyer Noppadon Laothong said Monday that the postponement came after the defence  failed to submit testimony to the court.
He said the court had scheduled May 8 for further hearings.
The former prime minister filed her lawsuit against Prayut and the others on November 23, her lawyer said.
Yingluck’s civil lawsuit responded to an executive order issued by the Finance Ministry seeking Bt35 billion in damages from the former prime minister, an estimated 20 per cent of the losses from her government’s corruption-plagued rice-pledging scheme.
