Hi-so figure ‘Ying Kai’ fronts court

Corrections Department officers brought high-society figure Monta “Ying Kai” Yokratanakan – accused of lodging false theft police complaints against her former maids, attempted human trafficking and lese majeste – to a Bangkok court on Monday morning for an evidence review linked to the attempted human trafficking charge.

Monta has been detained at the Central Women’s Correctional Institute in Bang Khen district since last July.
Monta’s alleged wrongdoings were revealed when authorities probed her complaint to Prachacheun police about her former maid Prapawan “Goi” Jaikla, 18, and Prapawan’s parents, whom she alleged stole Bt10 million worth of gold bars and cash from her.
An arrest warrant was issued for Prapawan, who was detained for three months despite her claim she was innocent. She claimed she was accused of theft because she had refused Monta’s offer to work abroad.
Several other former employees of Monta then stepped forward to allege that they were also falsely accused.
