Dhammakaya monks eat in street after being ordered to use designated gate

Monks from Dhammakaya Temple on Wednesday morning decided to have their breakfast on the street surrounded by security guards in front of the temple, claiming they were forced by authorities to enter the temple through a designated gate.

Sixteen monks exited the temple this morning to receive food from laymen, but when they wanted to go back into the temple through Gates 5 and 6, they were told by security guards to use only Gate 7.
One of the monks told a reporter that he usually takes Gate 5 or 6 to exit and re-enter the temple every day, and wondered why he was forced to take another gate.
“When we could not enter the temple via our usual gates, we decided to have breakfast here,” he said.
Monks and security guards should perform their own tasks, he said.

Department of Special Division (DSI) has been in charge of an operation to search for temple’s former abbot Phra Dhammachayo who wanted by several arrest warrants, including money-laundering, for two weeks.
DSI on Tuesday enforced a measure to check identification of monks going in and out of the temple to try to weed out non-residents of Dhammakaya.
