Activist Veera vows to surrender Wednesday

Political activist Veera Somkwamkid has posted on his Facebook wall that he will turn himself in at the Technology Crime Suppression Division Wednesday afternoon to fight charges of having allegedly violated the Computer Crime Act

Veera said in the post that he is ready to defend himself in court but he earlier avoided TCSD investigators when they came to his house because he feared of being detained for seven days without a chance to fight his case under the judicial system.
The TCSD has obtained an arrest warrant from the Criminal Court against Veera after Veera posted results of an opinion survey held by himself on his Facebook wall, saying the majority people had lost confidence in the government.
The survey was conducted on Veera’s Facebook wall and the TCSD considered that the samples of respondents did not represent the majority people. As a result, the TCSD considered that Veera had allegedly uploaded false information into a computer network.
Veera said the TCSD investigators should have first issued a summon order for him to meet them instead of seeking an arrest warrant right away.
