Actress ‘Patt’ given month to hand financial records to anti-drugs investigators

Actress ‘Patt’ given month to hand financial records to anti-drugs investigators

Actress Napapa “Patt” Tantrakul has been given one month to present her financial records and related documents to Narcotics Suppression Bureau (NSB) investigators, the bureau’s deputy chief Pol Maj-General Chatri Paisalsilpa said on Tuesday.

If the actress resisted, it could result in her being charged with conspiracy to launder money and perjury, he warned.
The police request was part of the NSB’s ongoing investigation into the actress’s husband, motorbike racing star Akarakit “Benz Racing” Worarojcharoendet, who is charged with conspiracy and money laundering. He is currently released on bail on condition that he does not leave the country without court permission.
Akarakit is accused of buying a Lamborghini sports car with drug money from a network led by alleged Laotian drug kingpin Xaysana Keopimpa.
Napapa and Akarakit’s mother as well as employees at Akarakit’s Area 51 big-bike accessories shop had been summoned to testify to police last week.
Chatri yesterday said the actress claimed that the money in her bank account was from her income from acting and jobs in the entertainment circle.
Regarding previous police findings that Akarakit wired money to Napapa’s bank account, the actress testified that he did so because, when she was too busy, she sometimes handed the cash or cheques that she earned to him to put in her account.
Investigators had asked her to submit the contracts and receipts within one month so for inclusion in the case report, he said. In the meantime, NSB officers would request the actress’s bank account statement.
Chatri said the person who reportedly hired Napapa would be summoned to submit the contract of hiring the actress and to testify as a witness by next week.
The case against Akarakit stems from the “Chaiya Sayop Pairee 60/2” operation to search 40 locations nationwide including Akarakit’s shop in a bid to smash the network led by Xaysana.
Xaysana was arrested at Suvarnabhumi International Airport on January 19.
