Probe into Nakhon Trang building collapse

Nakhon Trang Municipality officials and engineers on Wednesday inspected the under-construction Phraya Ratsadanupradit Art and Culture Centre in Trang's Muang district after it partially collapsed.

The incident left an unnamed Myanmar worker with broken legs.
As a cement truck was pouring cement onto the second-floor balcony, scaffolding collapsed and the building partially collapsed at about 5pm on Tuesday.
The accident occurred after most of the 27 workers had stopped for the day.
Sanan Rakdam, director of the municipality's City Planning and Building Construction Control Division, said the Bt150 million two-storey building would serve as the province's conference hall and culture exhibition centre.
He suspected that the partial collapse – which did not compromise the overall structure – occurred because the scaffolding was not secured while the concrete was poured.
Following the incident, he said the wet concrete was washed away and stronger scaffold was erected.
He added that the construction was being overseen by two municipal engineers and an engineer from the contractor.
He said he affected section of the job was supposed to be completed by March 7 but was delayed because rain.
After the engineers submitted their incident report, a fact-finding committee would investigate.
