Kindergarten children take part in Muay Thai boxing competition

Kindergarten children joined some older athletes in a Muay Thai boxing contest on Friday at a temporary arena in Tambon Ram of Surin’s Muang district.

The 20-match contest, joined by male and female amateur Muay Thai boxers aged from five to 50 years old, was part of the 23rd “Ram Cup” annual seven-sport competition. 
The competition, held from March 22 to 31, was part of the campaign against drugs, to promote constructive spending of free time, promote exercise, teamwork and residents’ unity. 
Fourteen villages sent their athletes to contest in a football match for male youths, a football match for women, a football match for the elderly, volleyball matches for women, Sepak Takraw matches for men, Petanque sessions for mixed teams, and Muay Thai.
The highlight of the Muay Thai contest was a match between two six-year-old boys with no stage fighting experience. Blue corner boxer, Ban Boromsuk School kindergartener Thanadech Sangkoranee, who went by the stage name “Yok Morakot”, was defeated by Ban Prasitthanu School pupil Pakorn “Big Beam Sid-JL” Passada.
