Deputy PM Prawit the new head of OCT

Deputy PM Prawit the new head of OCT

Having become the new head of the Olympic Committee of Thailand, Deputy Prime Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwan hoped to help the Kingdom succeed at international sport arena, starting with this year’s SEA Games in Malaysia.

The OCT’s extraordinary board meeting took place yesterday at its permanent office, Ampawan House, to find a new president after long-serving Gen Yuthasak Sasiprapha decided not to continue in the post after the expiry of his fourth successive term.

Yuthasak, who was appointed as the honorary president at the OCT general assembly last week, chaired the extraordinary meeting and then nominated Prawit as the president of Thailand Swimming Association to succeed him.

The meeting unanimously endorsed Prawit to become the seventh OCT president along with Maj Gen Charouck Arirachakaran and Thana Chaiprasit as the vice president and the treasurer respectively.
