Key suspect in Yala bombing arrested

Narathiwat native Panya Pi, a suspect in a Yala bombing attack and several other violent incidents in the region since 2007, has been arrested.

The Internal Security Operations Command (Isoc)'s 4th Region Front Command announced the capture of the 33yearold after Yala Court in May 2014 issued an arrest warrant for his arrest.
The front command deputy spokesman Colonel Yutthanam Phetchmoung told a press conference on Wednesday that Panya was nabbed at a grocery shop in Tambon Khao Toom of Pattani's Yarang district on  Monday.
 Yutthanam credited the arrest of the key suspect to related agencies' in the collection of forensic evidence, CCTV checking and intelligence gathering, as well as the cooperation of local residents.
He said investigators will probe further to determine if Panya is connected to any other incidents.
He urged other insurgents in hiding to change their way and contact the authority by calling 092 532 4989.
